BUNDASMAN TESTER

The Bundasman type apparatus is used for determination of water repellency, resistance to wetting (in term of water absorb) and resistance to penetration (in term of water penetrated) of fabric.
It is made of four specimen holders which hold four specimens of the fabrics under test the specimen holders are rotate at the fixed RPM by means of a worm reduction gear box and an electric motor.

Description

Bundasman Tester

The Bundasman Tester is used for determining the water repellency, resistance to wetting and resistance to water penetration of fabrics. The apparatus provides a controlled testing arrangement in which water is applied to fabric specimens while the specimens are held and rotated at a specified speed.

The GTX-BN1 Bundasman Tester is provided with four specimen holders for holding four fabric specimens during testing. The specimen holders are rotated by an electric motor through a worm reduction gear box at the specified rotational speed.

Working Principle of Bundasman Tester

The fabric specimens are placed in the specimen holders provided with the apparatus. The holders rotate at a fixed speed while water is delivered through the mounted jets at a controlled flow rate.

The water falling onto the fabric specimens allows the tester to evaluate the fabric’s response to water exposure. The test can be used to determine:

  • Water repellency
  • Resistance to wetting
  • Water absorption in terms of water absorbed
  • Resistance to water penetration
  • Water penetration in terms of water penetrated

The controlled rotation of the specimen holders and specified water flow help maintain the test conditions during evaluation.

Construction and Operation

The apparatus consists of four specimen holders designed to hold the fabric specimens under test. The specimen holders are connected to a rotating mechanism operated through a worm reduction gear box and electric motor.

Water is supplied through the mounted jets at a specified flow rate. The jets are arranged with a 20 mm center-to-center distance, providing the required water distribution over the test specimens.

The angle between the horizontal and the plane of the sample is maintained between 10° and 15°, according to the provided technical specification.

Applications of Bundasman Tester

The Bundasman type apparatus is used for fabric testing applications involving water exposure and wetting characteristics. It can be used in textile laboratories and quality-control applications where the water repellency and water penetration behaviour of fabrics need to be evaluated.
